I/The patient was aware of the hospital and all medical costs of my/the patient's hospital care before I/the patient paid for my hospital medical treatment
This feedback relates to 2 separate experiences with this hospital within a 4 week period of time - the first was an admittance for infection, and the second an outpatients experience for a minor head injury. Former: daughter was admitted for 4 days, and while the overall treatment was probably satisfactory, she pulled her IV drip out during the night (she is 2 years old) and there was nobody on hand to put it back in. I was told that the Dr wasn't prepared to come to the hosptial in the night and nobody else was skilled to do it. I found this incredible - a relatively simple procedure for a young child that has been admitted due to dehydration, who then had to wait a further 10 hours before the Dr returned. We remained in hospital for a further 3 days due to ongoing dehydration. In the second instance, my daughter had a relatively minor cut on the back of her head and required examination and something to close up the wound. The nurse initially attempted to apply a steri strip by sticking it onto the open wound without attempting to close the wound in any way. I asked for the Dr to attend, who then tried to use a glue solution - again neither the nurse or Dr had used this before and struggled to know how to apply it. In the end, my husband and I did it! There was really no value in us attending the hospital and we footed a large bill. Poor at a hospital of this repuation.
The Matilda was very good, however it followed a dreadful experience coupled with very bad medical advice we received at Pamela Youlde Eastern Hospital. I would never recommend anybody to attend that hospital.
The staff were remarkable, in fact my son would have stayed longer if he could.
Very high level of care and concern shown by all staff, especially upon admission
