Pregnancy Including Delivery And Obstetrical Or Gynecological ProblemsWhen my contraction started, I called the hospital and the nurses explained clearly what I had to do prior to getting myself admitted. Once I arrived at the OB ward, they already knew who I am and had the room fully set up. There was on average 1 nurse in my room at all times. Once I have decided to use epidural, the in-house anesthesiologist arrived within 20 minutes (even though it was 5am). He was very professional and made me feel at ease. The "head nurse" visited me every hour to make sure all my needs are met. The nurses were also very courteous to my husband who has not slept all night, offering blankets and telling him how to order food. During the labor, there were 4 nurses supporting me. The hospital is very supportive of breastfeeding, and allowed skin-to-skin contact for baby and me for 30 minutes after baby was born, and more if I needed to. I had a lactation consultant visiting me 3 times a day, staying for over 30 minutes each time as I needed quite a bit of help. I was supposed to stay for 3 days and 2 nights, but I wanted to extend my stay for another day, which they were very supportive of (many friends who stayed at Sanatorium said this would not be possible given how full they are). The hospital only has max of 10 babies at any given time, so the attention level is very high. The hospital was also recently renovated so everything is clean and neat. I would highly recommend this hospital to any expectant mothers!

Injuries And Other AccidentsThe ER Doctor found us an orthopedic surgeon quickly and we were able to do the surgery for my son's crushed finger right away, they were very generous in assisting us from the admitting staff to the doctors and nurses throughout the stay.

CancerThe patient spent 10 days in the ICU ward. Lots of privacy and never did we feel pressurised and the hospital was not like a market place . Excellent care.

Urinary Tract ProblemsThe overall experience with The Adventist has been excellent however the hospital has one strange rule. When I wanted to use my CPAP machine for sleep apnea the hospital insisted they would charge me a daily rate approx $150 which I thought was rather a bit odd!

PediatricsThe clinical experience was very positive. The nurses and other staff are wonderful and the doctors are experts in their field.
Both the pediatrician and the surgeon were very professional and I trusted their advice, but both spoke very quickly and used many medical terms without explanation. I was just able to follow them as I know quite a bit about medicine (but as a layperson) , but I think some people would find it very difficult to understand what they were saying.
I was not given any estimate of the length of stay, costs etc except the room charge. No one would explain to me what the costs were likely to be. The surgeon said ask the pediatrician, she said ask the surgeon, the nurses said ask Admissions and Discharge, they said ask the doctors.
The treatment turned out to be VERY expensive and is only a very small amount is covered by my insurance. I would have made a different choice of treatment location if I'd known the likely costs.
Also my insurer refused to tell me whether the operation my son was scheduled to have is classified by them as minor or intermediate. This makes a HUGE difference in how much of the cost is refunded. Again this would definitely affect my decision about the choice between private versus public hospital.
